Audio Transcript

Travis: I have a lot of listeners that currently have a job, and they're tyring to get out of the rat race and they want to start their own company. Is forming a separate entity, running a separate company any way in conflict with their current employer?

Jake: Well, one of the issues there that many people will have to consider is what's that business that they're running? Is there a conflict of interests with what their employer is doing? Meaning, are they competing against each other?

So, that's one question that they need to take a look at. But, if it's completely separate with from what your current employer is doing than in many cases there's not going to be any issue.

Travis: Would you say that would be true even if their employer was the federal government?

Jake: That would be true even if their employer was the federal government.

Now one issue that many people need to consider is how much time does it take? Obviously, if you're doing the work while you're at the job, that will definitely be an issue with the employer.
